Hyderabad holds a special place in my heart as it is where I started my job, met Dipty, and bought my first bike. Founded by the Qutb Shahi sultan Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah in 1591 CE, Hyderabad is the capital city of Telangana.
Today, my plan was to travel from Nagpur to Hyderabad, covering a distance of 500 km in approximately 9.5 hours according to Google Maps. However, I was able to complete the journey in just 8 hours. Along the way, I crossed the Penganga River, which serves as the border between Maharashtra and Telangana, as well as the Godavari River after crossing Nirmal. I also passed through Adilabad, Nirmal, and Nizamabad, all of which are cities in Telangana.
The most breathtaking scenery was in the Niram district, where the highway passes through the Sahyadri mountain range. While the road is under repair on the Maharashtra side of National Highway 44, the Telangana side is smooth and allows for speeds of up to 100-120 kmph.
I arrived in MEDCHAL (suburb) around 1:00 PM and thought I had reached Hyderabad, but had to cross the city traffic to reach the Bangalore highway on the other side. Although the Outer Ring Road was an option, it wasn’t open to bikes, so it took me 2 hours to travel a distance of 50 km.
I booked a room at “Hotel Hyderabad Grand” near Samshabad Airport as it will be easy for me to travel towards Bangalore tomorrow morning. The hotel is conveniently located on the road and has a friendly and helpful staff. For lunch, I enjoyed Chicken Handi and Tandoori Roti, both of which were delicious.
Later, I met my relative Kinshuk at the Amnesia Lounge Bar in the city, which had a pleasant ambience and an open-air table from where we could watch the Hyderabad Metro and the road. The food was great and we had a wonderful time.
Tomorrow, I will be heading home to Bangalore.
